My husband is a looking for his first road bike and is going to choose between these 2 choices?

Buying a 7 year old bike and paying 70% as much as for a new one seems high to me. The old bike may have worn parts that would need to be replaced later this year without the benefit of any warranty. As to the value of the extras, they all depreciated much quicker than the bike.
